Two vehicles, two bills
A caravan is a trailer: it is registered and taxed as a vehicle of its own, and its tax is added to the towing vehicle’s. Nearly every canton counts gross weight, but at very different rates, and some have minimum amounts that weigh more on a light trailer than the tariff itself does. Anyone looking at caravan and car together should work out both sides: a canton that is cheap for the car need not be cheap for the trailer.
